Prise du Veau au Lasso
Cette discipline demande une très bonne coordination entre le cheval et le cavalier, une grande rapidité de mouvement ainsi qu'une maîtrise quasi-parfaite du lasso. Le cowboy doit attraper un veau pesant environ 105 kg au lasso, descendre de sa monture pour courir vers l'animal, le renverser et lui attacher trois pattes en croisé à l'aide d'une corde de manille..
Après avoir fait marche arrière juste ce qu'il faut pour maintenir une bonne tension sur le lasso, le cheval s'immobilise. Le veau doit rester attaché un minimum de cinq secondes après que le cavalier soit remonté en selle et fait avancer son cheval d'un pas. Le juge annonce alors que l'attache est en règle et confirme le temps obtenu par le cowboy.
Cette discipline constitue la base de l'habilité du cowboy puisqu'elle sert à attraper le bétail afin de le marquer du sceau du propriétaire.
Calf Roping
This discipline requires a good coordination between the horse and the rider, a fast response and an almost perfect control of the lasso. The cowboy shall capture the calf of about 105 kg with a lasso, dismount and run towards the animal, tip it over tie up three legs with a manilla rope.
After backing up to put tension on the rope, the horse stops. The calf should stay attached at least 5 seconds after the rider as climbed back on his horse, and moved his horse one step forward. The judge then announce that everything is according to the rules and confirm the time.
This ability is the base of a cowboy's work. Capture and mark the
animal with the owner's seal.
