La monte de chevaux sauvages sans selle
Sur le plan de l'endurance physique, cette discipline est probablement la plus exigeante. En effet, le cowboy doit se maintenir sur son cheval sauvage avec comme seul équipement, une sellette munie d'une poignée dans laquelle il glisse sa main. À sa sortie de la chute, il doit toucher de ses éperons le creux des épaules du cheval, sans avoir de contact avec l'équipement, l'animal ou lui même de sa main libre.
Afin de se qualifier, le cowboy doit éperonner sa monture à chaque soubresault et tenir le coup pendant huit secondes. Deux juges accorderont des points dont la moitié pour le style et la maîtrise du cowboy et l'autre moitié pour le style de la performance de la monture. Le fait d'être en accord avec sa monture lui permet d'obtenir un meilleur pointage.
Cette discipline, conçue particulièrement pour son aspect spectacle, est aujourd'hui la plus populaire et la plus appréciée du grand public n'a rien à voir avec le dur métier de rancher.
Bareback Bronc Riding
On the physical point of view, this disciplin is probably the
one that requires the most energy and endurance. In fact,the cowboy
has to stay on his wild bronco, with only a small saddle with a handle.
When he comes out of the starting gate he should kick the horse with
his spurs, in the pit of the shoulder of the bronco. His free hand
cannot touch or hold on to the horse or equipement.
To qualify himself the rider has to spur the horse at each jump, and
hold on for 8 seconds. Two judges will give points, half for the style
and the control of the bronco, and the rest for the style and performance
of the bronco. To be in harmony with his mount, allows to get the most
points.
This discipline, was conceive for the show, is the most appreciated by
the public, but remember it has nothing to do with the trade of a
rancher.
